The idea of founding, came from a nationalist pride feeling of the age, to oppose teams set up by foreigners (Americans, English and Germans), for proving sport abilities of Romanians.
A group of 4 high-school students, living in downtown Bucharest ("Colțea" Hospital/church/tower area; the tower collapsed in 1880, but its ruins layed couple of years), watched a football game at "Bolta Rece" ground. The involved teams were of foreigners, and the assistance enjoied the game and dreamed about it. But to play in such a team, as a Romanian, it was not easy. Next day, at school, students discussed and decided they had to buy a ball (8 lei - until 1914, Romania had one of the strongest currency of Europe; a Romanian Leu was reported as follows: 1 U.S.A. Dollar = 5,18 lei, 1 Deutsche Mark = 1,24 lei, 1 British Pound = 25,25 lei, due to equivallent of manufacturing metal-gold; This currency was the strongest and most steady in the economical history of Romania) and gather a team.
"Colțea" plays 1914-1915, 1915-1916, 1919-1920, 1920-21 seasons in national championship (pre-divisional formula). In 1920, branches of the club are set up in Brașov and Ploiești. Next years, the team plays in Bucharest local championship, except in 1937-1938 when it is present in Divizia C. After WWII, there is no other official record about this romantic club.
