On July 28th 2003, the Court of Law from Ploiești decided to change the name of SC Sport Club Astra Ploiești SA to SC FC Petrolul SA Ploiești, after the exclusion of ASFC Petrolul Ploiești. Now the club plays in Liga A Prahova, the fourth level of the football system pyramid - county leagues.
