In 2003, FC Oradea succeeded to promote in Divizia A, after a play-off with Oțelul Galați. But after this performance, owner of the club, Marius Vizer, decided to retire, ceding the place to local authorities for 800.000 USD. Then, Vizer formed Centre of Football Liberty Oradea, with which he promoted at the end of season 2003-2004 in Divizia C. Liberty fused with CSM Medgidia and assured itself the place in second division. After a season finished on 5th place (2004-2005), Liberty promoted in next season in first division after just three years of existance!
