History: |
The first professional football club in Romania, founded by Dr. Cornel Lazăr, a famous promoter of football in Banat region, former president of "Chinezul Timișoara". Due to professional status, until 1932-1933 (the season of 1st National League - Divizia A), the team and its players could not be used in national official competitions.
It seems that the name was inspired by Roman Empire's province "Dacia Ripensis" organized in that region of Romania, today called Banat. The players were the best and came from "Chinezul", "C.A.T.", "Poli".
After WWII, due to financial problems, communist organisation in sports' field and "backstairs actions ", Ripensia played in Divizia B and Divizia C, and, after 1948, without any support, it disappeared, merging with "Electrica Timișoara". |
