The single option for Vaslui was the victory, while Sportul came with a good moral, after 3 matches without defeat. Vaslui started the match poor-spirited and because of that Sportul could score even from 11 minute, Alin Rațiu heading to the post, but Bogdan Buhuș rejected from the line. The match was decided by the mistake of referee Heleșteanu, who gave, erroneous, a penalty kick for CFR. The player-coach Dorinel Munteanu had a minor injury and helped his team from the bench. But even so, CFR had two opportunities in first 10 minutes of the match, by Robert Roszel and Florin Dan. The fans of Poli hoped that Gică Hagi team still can equall and even to win, but Lucian Burdujan put salt on the wound of Timișoara and scored the third goal for Rapid in 72 minute.
