With the owner arrested, with Adi Olah and Gabi Cânu isolated at second team, Poli hoped to win three points at Bistrița. First opportunity of the match had Gloria, by Gabriel Mureșan (11), his powerful shot from 30 metres passing near by the post. There were 90 minutes of torment, the players who played football being just Diniță and Huțan. Too little to see a goal, which no team would have deserved it. It was a boring match, and at the end of the match Jiul breathed hard and Vaslui needed perfusions. The shots to the post were replaced with tracers which struck the snowed mountains and the dribblings were replaced with hindrances of a too round ball. FC Argeș showed again that defensive game isn't good. Sportul played offensive from the beginning, the attack being the single strategy imposed by coach Gigi Mulțescu. The match was decided by a mistake of defender Andrei Prepeliță, who fouled Marius Nae in penalty area, in 73 minute. Captain Alin Chița has exaggerated with the protests at this phase and he received second yellow card, annihilating practically any chance of Argeș to return the score. Tibi Bălan transformed the penalty kick and Sportul reduced the engines, being satisfied with 1-0 in face of a defensive team like Argeș.

Criticised by everybody, including by own players, that plays too defensive, coach Momcilo Vukotić decided to risk. He sent on the field two strikers, Liviu Mihai and Tibor Moldovan, and told the players not to play with long balls, like in last matches, but even so Farul didn't have too much opportunities. The single opportunity to score of Farul in first half had Tibor Moldovan, in 29 minute, his shot hitting the bar. Poli Iași tried to score by shots from long distance, but keeper George Curcă always was careful. After the break the hosts were more decisive. The changing of Ion Marin with Florin Marin didn't transform over night the "puppies" in "Red dogs" who should scare Divizia A. Dinamo has dominated the match, but the strikers weren't in their best day. Oțelul was present on the field just a few minutes, in the debut of the match. Bălțoi remained alone with Mincă in first minute, but referee Corpodean whistled off-side. Two minutes later Daniel Stan was close to score, but Maftei interfered and from this moment, for many minutes, just the hosts have played. Daniel Niculae needed three clear opportunities to score once. In 5 minute he shot near by the post from 16 metres, three minutes later Daniel Pancu let him alone with the keeper, but Daniel Niculae hit the bar, and he scored just after an excellent cross of Vali Bădoi.
