Milan Badelj was the star of the show as Dinamo cruised to victory in Romania. The Croatian midfielder scored the first goal and laid on the other two as his side bounced back in style from their opening 2-0 home defeat to Anderlecht. Timisoara played their part and could easily have levelled when, at 1-0 down, Dorin Goga forced a superb save from visiting keeper Filip Loncaric, but Dinamo were good value for their victory. They started well and Badelj finished clinically after being teed up by Ilija Sivonjic in the eighth minute, and the provider almost turned goalscorer soon afterwards when his right-footed drive from 20 yards was punched away by keeper Costel Pantilimon. Lone striker Gheorghe Bucur headed Ioan Mera's cross straight at Loncaric as Timisoara sought to quickly get back on level terms, and the same player was denied once again as Loncaric repelled a right-footed effort from Claudiu Ionescu's corner. Sivonjic shot over and Badelj's drive almost squirmed away from Pantilimon, before Loncaric brilliantly turned away Goga's cross-shot. Pedro Morales' free-kick was met by Ivica Vrdoljak in the centre of the penalty area but Pantilimon saved comfortably and then also held Morales' shot. Badelj was booked for a foul on Winston Parks within two minutes of the Costa Rica striker's introduction as a half-time substitute, but quickly redeemed himself by setting up the second goal. Timisoara duo Ionescu and Alexandru Curtean had both fired over from outside the box but the visitors stretched their lead as Badelj slid in Jorge Sammir, who finished high past Pantilimon. And Badelj was the provider again as Morales shot low across the keeper to make it 3-0 shortly before the hour mark. Morales lashed wide from 30 yards and, when the hosts enjoyed a rare foray upfield, Parks shot over from a similar distance. Loncaric was then called into action to field Dare Nibombe's shot but Morales' volley tested Pantilimon as Zagreb pushed forward in search of a fourth. They settled for three, though, to give them a boost ahead of a difficult trip to Ajax next time out.
