Romania's football runner-up Unirea Urziceni is out of the Champions League competition, having been defeated away by Zenit Sankt Petersburg 0-1 Wednesday evening. In the first leg played at home, Unirea hardly managed a goalless draw against their Russian counterparts. The Romanians will therefore take their chance in the second-tire Europa League group playoffs. Unirea began their Russia game with offensive tactics and an impressing drive, surprising Zenit to such extent they needed no less than 20 minutes to figure out how to deal with the situation in the field. Once they balanced the game, Russians attempted to capitalize on their apt individual players, which resulted in Danny outrunning Nicu Epaminonda and blasting home from inside the 16 meter box. "We are disappointed we lost, though we played against a great, powerful team. Yet, given our playing in the second half, we should have deserved a better result", Unirea's coach Roni Levi said after the game, wishing Zenit good luck in the next stage of the competition. Argentine Brandan got tough on Unirea financier Dumitru Bucsaru after the lost game against Zenit. Other Unirea players too are unhappy with their financial condition at the club, and mainly with not being paid for the past two month. "The owner has treated us like trash, though we gave it all on the pitch. We hope the situation will get resolved", Sport.ro quoted the player as saying. "We have played quite well against players worth tens of millions of euros", Felix Grigore told on Digi Sport, adding: "Danny however made the difference. That is, EUR 33 M have made the difference this evening. We are sorry, mainly that we had the chance to outplay Zenit".
