Slovenia qualified for the final phase of 2002 FIFA World Cup (in South Korea and Japan) after 3-2 on aggregate; they finished their journey from the first phase - 4th place in Group B with Spain, Paraguay and South Africa. Paraguay reached the round of 16, where they were eliminated by the tournaments finalists, Germany and Spain went through quarter-finals, where - after an 120 minute goalless draw - they were eliminated at the penalty shoot-out by the hosts - South Korea, who finished 4th after a lost 3rd place final. |
