Due to the rules of the time, if a game ended in a draw, it was replayed. There were not any prolongations or 11m penalties, as in present days.
In our case the game with Gradjanski was replayed 2 times, and again, with the same draw.
In order to establish the second team for final of Mitropa Cup that was to be played against Ferencváros Budapest, they cast lots and Rapid București won.
But the final was not played because of a major political and military event between Romania and Hungary, on WWII background, when Hungary invades and annexes North-Eastern Romania, in August 1940.
Between 1941-1955 there were no European soccer competitions.
After the second World War, the cup was resumed (including unofficial editions in 1951 and 1958), but never reached its former status again, mainly because of the advent of the Champions' Cup and other European club competitions.
