SV came into the Group K encounter on a high having extended their unbeaten run in the Eredivisie to 17 games with a 1-0 win over Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar at the weekend, and their sparkling form under Fred Rutten continued apace with another solid victory tonight. A Danko Lazovic penalty and a second from substitute Nordin Amrabat was good enough to seal the three points for PSV, who were already assured of top spot in the group and progress to the last 32 with an enviable record of four wins and two draws from six games. Cluj, meanwhile, finish bottom of the pile after winning just one game in the section. Yssouf Kone carved out an early sighter for the hosts in the seventh minute but his effort from just inside the area was watched wide by PSV goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson. The visitors were ahead on 19 minutes when Boris Peskovic fouled Lazovic as the pair tussled to get on the end of Balazs Dzsudzsak's cross, and referee Said Ennjimi pointed to the spot. Lazovic hauled himself to his feet to take the spot-kick, and made no mistake with a drilled effort down the middle of the goal. The Dutch side continued to boss proceedings as the half developed and might have gone further ahead after 32 minutes but Ola Toivonen saw his firm effort parried clear by Cluj goalkeeper Boris Peskovic. And Sweden forward Toivonen was again denied seven minutes later when his header from a Lazovic free-kick was held by Peskovic. Cluj almost pulled a goal back after seven minutes of the second period but Nelson Cabrera's header from Ciprian Deac's free-kick flashed wide. Dirk Marcellis' cross found the threatening Toivonen moments later but his close-range header was off target, but the Swede found his range after 68 minutes, picking out a pass for Nordin Amrabat who fired home into the top-right corner to settle the result.
